Impact Speaks, a community of creative young adults on a global change mission recently announced the inaugural Nigerian Creative Economy Summit (NCES) which is scheduled to hold on November 5, 2016 in Abuja. The summit will convene 100 youths including speakers, pioneers, investors and upcoming acts in the creative industry.
The
aim of the summit is to advance the idea of leveraging opportunities
within arts to grow the nation's economy especially in a time of
recession and also rewarding artists handsomely. Specifically, the
summit will provide space to build conversations around the status quo
and draw up feasible sketches for improvement.
"It's
a one day event to discuss the financial viability of art as well as
improved opportunities for artists", said Valentine Onyeka Ogunaka, a
spoken word artist popularly known as Brainbox who doubles as founder
and president of Impact Speaks, organizing body of the summit. "I'm
honoured to host the first gathering of such crucial importance and
hoping for a meaningful dialogue where participants can also connect to
explore creative experiences", he added.
Ayoola
Emmanuel Esq., Impact Speaks cofounder and Chief Coordinator of the
summit said, "There will be a practical exposé on the basic ingredients
needed to be successful in the art industry". He further placed emphasis
on commercializing art stating, "we have carefully selected active
players spanning across all genres to show attendees how business works
for talented people".
Household
names like Dike Chukwumerije, Mr. Steve of Wazobia Max Tv, UK-based
playwright and actor Reginald Ofodile and renowned economist Tope Fasua
will be present to share from their wealth of experience.
The
NCES is supported by Advocate for People's Right and Justice, Institute
for Service Excellence and Good Governance, Connected Development
(CODE), Brainbox Centre for Literacy and Mind Development and Blemzy
Computers.
