Meet Iniitama, her abstract art

Iniabasi Itama mostly known as Iniitama is a Lagos based Broadcaster, Writer & Artist. She holds a Bsc. in Mass Communication, Broadcasting major from Babcock University, Otta, Ogun state. 

Initama who is a young, passionate and vibrant artist, is from Akwa Ibom state. She started painting and drawing from a very tender age and since then, has kept creating pieces unique to herself. She is mostly attracted to abstract art, hence her works are styled as such. 

The Bible, human character, patterns and forms are all inspirations to her. Her art medium comprises of canvas, acrylic, Ankara material, thread and spray paint. As a writer, she writes poetry and fiction. She plans to publish her written works next year.

She had her maiden solo exhibition in Lagos, April 2-3rd, 2016. It was themed, 'The Eve of Woman'.

The Eve of Woman centred around facial expressions of women, capturing the very essence of the typical emotions that they portray, as well as celebrating the woman as the stem of life.

Her second solo exhibition took place recently in Abuja, October 7 through 9, 2016. It was themed, 'Bloody Silver'.

Bloody Silver portrayed the power of the blood of Jesus Christ, and its ability to give second chances and life to everyone and everything. Below are some of her works.

1) EVERY MEMORY | 80cm x 41cm

For each and everyone that has been tainted with the harsh reality of this life May the smell of blood carry with it a tinge of what you once knew. May it remind you that memories are forever.. And so is blood.

 

2) EVERY CHILD | 68cm x 41cm

For every little we've lost. The little girl with the round face and scanty hair. The little boy with the chunky arms and full eye lashes. For the child you were who left too soon because it happened. We will never understand why, but blood gives peace. 

 

   

3) EVERY FOOTSTEP | 80cm x 41cm

Mis-steps. Footfalls. Trips. Stumbles. Lost roads. Everyone of them. They happen when we don't see, when we can't see. They happen when our curiosity gets the best of us. But follow the blood trail. It'll lead you back home.

 

 

4) EVERY PERSON | 60cm x 45cm

For everyone that you have become. The drunk. The abuser. The abused. The thief. The prostitute. The liar. The accuser. The judge. The envied. The raped. The deprived. The scarred. The sad. The coward. The unprepared parent. The distracted. The heartbroken. The lost. The confused. The hardened.

Let blood make you soft. Let it make you Beautiful.
