It was an evening of like minds as far as arts is concerned as S.P.L.I.T event, an acronym for Songs, Poetry, Lifestyle, Internet and Talk, saw young poets, singers, instrumentalists, amongst others, come together to talk S.P.L.I.T over the past weekend.
The
event which was pieced together by a group of Abuja-based artists,
spear-headed by Ugochukwu Nnemeka, gave a platform of performance to
young art personalities such BrainBox, Michael Ogah, Chris Rio, Amarachi
Okafor, including Rudolph Adidi (Abuja Slam Champion), but to mention a
few.
Asked
about the idea behind the event, Ugochukwu Nnemeka said, "the event
stemmed from the need to find a way to relate with people of my own
kind. There are always clubs, lounges, parties to go to, but
there's hardly any place to go listen to classical music and arts
performance, so we thought to put up a show such as this, with the help
of close friends and like-minds"
Giving
a speech at the event, Chukwuemeka Ezeakunwa, a member of the
talk-team, stressed the need for artists to avail themselves of modern
facilities such as the Internet to help improve, promote and monetize
their craft.
